Vinyl letters and lettering took the place of painted signage just a few years ago. You used to have to hire a graphic artist that would paint the pin strips and letters on your store window or vehicle. It was much too expensive for private residences to do the same. Then along came the computer and then the vinyl cutter/plotter. Now you have hundreds of fonts to choose from to say what ever you want. There’s no shortage of quotes that you can use.

You can search Google and find hundreds of different sayings. Sayings that would be fitting in the bathroom, your child’s bedroom, the kitchen, dining area, car and business. It is relatively cheap and that is why so many people are doing it.

You can find vinyl lettering at craft shows, craft stores or at a variety of vinyl lettering specialty shops online. Many vinyl signs are ready made and can be taken home with you or shipped out with very little waiting time.

Then there is custom vinyl lettering and graphics. This may cost a little more but you can choose the size, font and color of vinyl along with any graphics that fit your project. You could email your vendor the graphic you want cut but chances are the vendor may already have it.

Vinyl lettering has many advantages over painting as in the past. Vinyl is easy to apply. All you have to do is pull off the backing, make sure your application tape stays on the vinyl, and then apply to the location you desire. Be sure to squeegee all of the bubbles out and it will last for a long time.

Mark the wall where you are going to apply the vinyl so that you get it straight. I always say, “do it right the first time”. Measure from the floor or from the ceiling so that your vinyl letters will be level with the wall lines. Use some masking tape to tape the whole project to the wall to be sure it is straight. When you are sure that it is where you want it to be then press the vinyl letters to the wall. Make sure the sticky side is against the wall.

The process is the same whether you are putting on your business entry door or on the windows of your car. It’s easy and its cheap. When you want to change it, it is easy to peel off. That’s what I love about vinyl letters.
